Movie Moments: Bugsby Berkeley

One of my favorite things to do is watch old films from the late 20's thru the mid 40's. What I love most is the unique creativity and beauty that is revealed in each of these films. I remember I was up late one night and happen to come across the Turner Movie Classic channel which so happen to be featuring movies produced & choreographed by the very talented visionary of his time, Bugsby Berkeley. For those who are not familiar with his works, he has produced films such as 42nd Street, Gold Diggers of 1933 and I Live for Love. He is well known for his elaborate musical production numbers that often involved complex geometric patterns that creates a kaleidoscope effect which is created by various camera angles and beautiful show girls. He is a sheer creative genius in the old world film industry that is sure to inspire many.

BCBG Ballerina

Being a ballet dancer myself, I am absolutely mad about all things ballet. Between the fabulous tutus and perfect pirouettes there's no doubt ballet is here to stay in my world. I would always joke, "If I could wear my pointe shoes all day I surely would!". When I heard about the BCBG Ballerina high-heel ballet pumps I was tickled pink! Now I can show off my love for ballet in and out of the studio! For anyone who is a dancer or simply loves dance all together, these are just the right shoes for you!

Bag Lady

One of my obsessions are amazingly crafted handbags and clutches. For some reason, I can't seem to own enough. Although not just any bag will do! I carry a lot with me, call me over prepared :) So I look for several things when it comes to finding the right one. When shopping for the "IT" bag to add to my overzealous handbag collection it must be stylish, of good quality and most importantly be able to hold all of my trinkets I insist on carrying with me day to day. I was overly pleased when I found these amazing handbags and clutches made by Morgan Parish. Each bag can also be custom made to your liking, which for me makes it an absolute MUST HAVE! My favorite piece by her is the Prospect Clutch which is a plush leather sack clutch, with black ombre horsehair tassel. Stitched trimmed with magnetic snap closure, and raw edge finish. Now ladies if you are anything of a handbag connoisseur you may want to consider adding one for your collection!

There is something special about capturing moments of love for others and life itself. One photographer I came across was through a friend of mine, Drew B. She is absolutely talented in taking light loving photos for engagements, weddings, babies and families. Based out of Orange County, CA this talented shutter bug knows how to capture the essence of her clients. Next time you need professional pictures and you're in So Cal think of Drew B.!

Movie Moments: METROPIA

I was recently hanging out at home wishing I was feeling better over my cold. As I was flipping through the hundreds of channels desperate to find something worth watching, I came across this movie METROPIA in the search guide. As I clicked on for more info about the movie, one notation that stuck out aside from the basic film description was "animation" and I thought to myself, "This could either be really good or a waste of my two seconds spent clicking on this channel..." I figured I only live once so why not just check it out.

Low and behold I stumbled across a movie that completely blew my mind in every way. Just the visual aspects alone caters to my love of paintings as this is unlike any animated movie style I've seen. It's literally like watching a surreal-ity painting coming to life. With its uniquely sensual, strange, matrix-like plot (minus all the Keanu Reeves one liners, thankfully) I simply couldn't move my eyes from the screen and found myself completely wrapped up in the main character's journey! There's also an added bonus to all the Hello Kitty lovers out there as images are sprinkled throughout the movie...LOVE LOVE! If you are a lover of art and love to stimulate your intellectual mind, I highly recommend watching this movie!
